Set against the backdrop of holiday dinners, this family portrait spans four decades, highlighting the conflicts, chaos, and connections that define our relationships.
"MAKING GOD LAUGH" follows one typical American family over thirty years' worth of holidays.
Georgetown Theatre Workshop (GTW) President Mary-Liz Murray expressed her enthusiasm for the production, stating, "We're incredibly proud of 'MAKING GOD LAUGH.' It's a touching play that resonates with audiences because it reflects real-life experiences. We are so grateful to everyone who has supported GTW this season, and we can't wait to share this final production with both new and familiar faces."
Starting in 1980, Ruthie and Bill's grown children—a priest, an aspiring actress, and a former football star—all return home, revealing their plans and dreams as they embark on their adult lives.

The empty-nester parents contend with their own changes as old family rituals are revisited and ancient tensions flare up.
As time passes, the family discovers that, despite their intentions, they often arrive at unexpected destinations.
