CAST OF CHARACTERS:
CONSTANCE BLACKWOOD – Vocal Range: Mezzo (G3-E5) belt, with a rock edge. – Female presenting – 18+ to play late teens. Comic chops, a big heart, and a delightfully goofy and soulful way of seeing the world’s bittersweet wonder. Will do anything for Ocean’s friendship and allow herself to be used as a doormat. Self-deprecating, lots of pain under the pleaser façade. Dubbed “the nicest girl in town,” a title she secretly despises. *Actor should be able to move and harmonize well.
MISCHA BACHINSKI – Vocal Range: Baritone/Rap (A2 – G4) – Male-presenting – 18+ to play late teens. Adopted from Ukraine as a teenager. He has a thick Ukrainian dialect and a lot of rage. He is obsessed by ‘Gansgsta Rap’ (an enormous fan of the auto-tune phenomena). There is a hidden, soulful romantic side. Baritenor with the ability to sing lyrical Ukrainian folk music as well as rap. *Actor should be able to move and harmonize well. This character has intimate moments and kisses Noel.
RICKY POTTS – Vocal Range: Tenor (A2 – A4)- Male-presenting – 18+ to play late teens. Lives with a degenerative disease that has left him speechless and mostly immobile. He discovers at the beginning of the play that in this strange purgatory, he has regained all his abilities. He reveals a secret inner life in which he accesses Rockstar superpowers of charisma – think Prince or Bowie. Baritone rock voice. Basic accordion and/or tumbling a plus. *Actor should be able to move and harmonize well.
OCEAN O’CONNELL ROSENBERG – Vocal Range: Soprano (B3 – E5) High Broadway mix with pop quality, big range – Female-presenting – 18+ to play late teens. Alpha female. Ocean is the self-proclaimed leader of the group, relentlessly competitive. She starts out oriented to win at any cost, but ultimately her heart breaks open to seeing humanity in those she once saw as rivals. *Actor should be able to move and harmonize well.
NOEL GRUBER – Vocal Range: Baritone/Tenor (G2 – G4) with great falsetto, sings in style of French Chanteuse – Male Presenting – 18+ to play late teens. The only gay kid in Uranium. Never had a relationship. Obsessed by French New Wave cinema, he has fantasies of dying a tragic death, like a French prostitute. Intellectual, biting wit, but he doesn’t have enough hindsight or life experience to make him a snarky bitch. *Actor should be able to move and harmonize well. This character has intimate moments and kisses Mischa.
JANE DOE – Vocal Range: Soprano (C4 – E6) – Classically trained soprano with a flexible coloratura upper range with some grit in the lower register – Female -presenting – 18+ to play late teens. A mystery. Possibly the new girl at school who no one had gotten to know yet. She was decapitated in the accident, and no one claimed her body. Even though she isn’t headless (but often carries around a headless doll), the trauma of the accident leaves her discombobulated and removed. It’s like she’s learning about the world anew, with some weird references from a past life. *Actor must be comfortable with wearing a wig, contacts, being lifted while singing and move and harmonize well.
THE AMAZING KARNAK – A mechanical fortune-telling machine that has been set to “family fun mode”. *Please Note: This role has already been cast.

ABOUT THE SHOW
"RIDE THE CYCLONE" is a Canadian musical written by Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell.
In a dilapidated warehouse at an abandoned amusement park, an aging mechanical fortune-teller called "The Amazing Karnak" comes to life, and brings with him a ghostly choir of five deceased high-schoolers - all members of the Saint Cassian Chamber Choir, who were tragically killed on the park’s "CYCLONE" roller coaster.
Now, Karnak has the power to return one of these youths to life - but they must all decide among themselves who is the most worthy of a second chance to "RIDE THE CYCLONE" that is life.
"RIDE THE CYCLONE" is a fanciful one-act musical featuring a diverse cast of uniquely Canadian characters and has charmed audiences across North America.
With songs in vocal styles ranging from ballads to rap, "RIDE THE CYCLONE" has been called 'probably the most uproarious and outrageous piece of musical theatre Canada has ever produced' (STAGEAGENT).
