ABOUT THE SHOW

AUDITION LOGISTICS

  • SIGN-UP:
  • FORMAT/PREPARATION:
    • INTRO: Prepare to give an intro about yourself - name, pronouns, which character(s) interest you, and something you find interesting about Prohibition, Bootlegging, Art Deco, Jazz, or some other relevant cultural aspect of 1927.
    • MUSIC: Prepare a 16-32 bar cut of a song in the style of the show that showcases your vocal range and technique. Be prepared to sing a capella; we will also do a range check with scales as part of the process.
    • CHOREO: Familiarize yourself the dance videos ahead of time. You will have the chance to run the combo with the choreographer and/or dance captain and ask questions/get guidance before presenting it to the audition panel.
    • ACTING: If you are trying out for Max, we will have you read Max’s specific monologue as we will not be calling back for that role. Otherwise, no readings or monologues needed; we will do those at callbacks.
    • VIDEO SUBMISSIONS: We will consider video submissions for initial auditions, please contact auditions@theatre3.org for instructions
  • CALLBACKS:
    • Callbacks are in-person only. If you are unable to attend callbacks, you will still be considered, however people who attend will have a larger body of audition work for the team to consider.
    • Callback materials are available to look at ahead of time
    • CHOREO: Will include a tap combination for potential featured dancers. 
    • MUSIC: Some leads  will work on character-specific songs with the music director during the callback.
    • ACTING: Actors being called back for some named roles will read with various scene partners using the callback scenes; you may be asked to redo scenes and make acting adjustments. We will provide hard copies of the callback scenes; if you need large-print, please let us know.
    • You will be notified on TBD if you are called back.


REHEARSAL SCHEDULE

  • Rehearsals will be Sundays (1-5pm), Mondays (7-10pm), and Thursdays (7-10pm)
  • Our first rehearsal and read-through will be Monday, February 9.

A hilarious new screwball comedy, "NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT" pokes fun at the Prohibition era in a clash of elegant socialites and boorish bootleggers, all set to the glorious songs of George and Ira Gershwin

Highlights from the score include: “Fascinating Rhythm,” “Let’s Call The Whole Thing Off,” “Someone To Watch Over Me,” “Sweet and Low Down,” “Delishious” and the title song.

ABOUT THEATRE III
