"OUR DAUGHTERS, LIKE PILLARS"

Written by KIRSTEN GREENIDGE

Directed by KIMBERLY SENIOR

Performances: CANCELLED

After much careful consideration regarding the coronavirus pandemic, the Huntington Theatre Company is suspending all public performances and events at both the Huntington Avenue Theatre and Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA.

Ticketing staff will be reaching out to ticket holders of Our Daughters, Like Pillarsoriginally scheduled from March 20 to April 19. We hope to create a digital recording of this play to be made available to ticketed patrons at a later date. Our Daughters, Like Pillars ticket holders also have the option of donating their tickets, exchanging them into a future Huntington production, or receiving a refund.

We are committed to the health and safety of our audiences, artists, staff, and presenters, and feel that taking this proactive measure is the most responsible thing to do based on recommendations from the CDC.

In keeping with our commitment to customer service and our flexible exchange policies, we are happy to work with any patrons who feel uncomfortable attending their designated performance when our venues reopen.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, and for your support of the Huntington. We hope that you stay well and take care of yourself, and that we will see you at the theatre again soon.

Warmest regards,

Michael Maso

Managing Director

Synopsis:

It’s a surprise to everyone when Lavinia invites her sisters and their mother to a gorgeous summer house in New Hampshire for a vacation that she hopes will last forever. But when the sisters’ stepmother Missy – the woman who inherited their dad’s everything – shows up unannounced, long-simmering feuds flare up and family bonds are called into question. Where is this family heading? Can they be happy with what they’ve been given? And who invited Missy? Obie Award-winning playwright and Boston native Kirsten Greenidge (Luck of the Irish, Milk Like Sugar) and director Kimberly Senior (The Niceties) tell the incredibly funny and moving story of one whirlwind weekend in the life of a contemporary black American family.
